Infants Program
Age Target: Provides full or part time care for children ages 6 weeks - 12 months
Ratio: 4 children to 1 teacher
Group Size: 8 children (2 staff)
In an effort to make this first transition from home to center-based care a smooth one for your family, Kidds & Co. created this self-contained classroom to provide a safe, spacious and comfortable environment for your infant. The classroom offers stimulating learning materials that allow for developmentally appropriate interactions and discovery time. Kidds & Co. believes in providing your infant with the same hands-on physical contact you provide at home so we spend ample time holding and nurturing your infant. The classroom features a Napping Area, Eating Area, Play Area and a Kitchenette for bottle and food preparation. Right outside the door is an enclosed, grassy play yard for the children to enjoy time outdoors. Our staff works with each family to accommodate the unique needs and patterns of play, feeding and developmental growth for each child.
Preschool Prep Program
Age Target: Provides full or part time care for children ages 24 months - 36 months
Ratio: 4 children to 1 teacher
Group Size: 8 children (2 staff)
This classroom is set up to prepare your two year old for the expectations of Preschool in a Toddler setting and ratio. Our goal is to help the children achieve a level autonomy that will sustain them when they move into the larger group size that is Preschool. The children in Prep learn how to navigate through their environment with their peers, resolve conflicts on their own through negotiation and communication, become aware of their impact in the classroom community and assume various roles in contributing to the function of the program. Your child will participate in small group play throughout the day allowing opportunities for peer-teaching and role-modeling to naturally occur.
Pre-Kindergarten Program
Our Pre-K program offers an array of Kindergarten readiness opportunities for your child. Teachers create a classroom environment that prepares your child for the social, independent and academic expectations and skills required for Kindergarten. Social/emotional development is still a big focus in this program. Your child will continue with the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and delve deeper into language and literacy skills that will prepare them for school. Our Math curriculum follows a progressive strain of concepts that range from counting, number recognition, comparing/contrasting, spatial relations, and more. Just like in Preschool, the Pre-K teachers chronicle each child's journey through daily observations and documentation while monitoring growth and development using an assessment tool that will be shared with parents when your child approaches Kindergarten. In June, we hold a graduation to honor the Pre-K students for all of their accomplishments.
Toddlers Program
Age Target: Provides full or part time care for children ages 12 months - 28 months
Ratio: 4 children to 1 teacher
Group Size: 8 children (2 staff)
Being able to move around on their own provides Toddlers with a new perspective of their world. Kidds & Co. provides a classroom that embraces a toddler's emerging skills and offers an environment that enables children to explore, climb, walk and expand gross-motor development while also providing the comfort and security they need to thrive. Our Toddler Program introduces communication using simple American Sign Language and intentional speaking with descriptive and reflective language to help children learn how to express themselves and communicate their needs and wants. Our teachers provide a structured classroom routine that focuses on pro-social development and open ended learning opportunities. Everyday offers a balance of teacher directed activities and child initiated discovery. Two year olds are assertive, independent and confident! We encourage these traits by providing a classroom with lots of hands-on learning! Sensory experiences, fine-motor development, creative play, music and movement are all parts of our day. We also encourage the progression of self-help skills and toilet training that begin to emerge during this time. Conflict resolution and classroom navigation, independent choices and participating in small group play are concepts we work on, while still providing a balance of teacher directed and child initiated experiences throughout the day.
Preschool Program
Age Target: Provides full and part time care for children ages 3 years - 5 years
Ratio: 10 children to 1 teacher
Group Size: 20 children (2 staff)
Kidds & Co. offers a great school readiness program for your Preschooler. As in our younger programs, the core focus is on coaching your Preschooler through social and emotional development, giving them the tools and language they need to express themselves and successfully navigate through a myriad of social situations. In addition to this important facet of our curriculum, our teachers also provide ample early learning experiences in Language, Literacy and Math. Your Preschooler will be introduced to letter recognition through the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. This teaching tool uses music and other child-friendly materials to introduce writing to your Preschooler. In Preschool, your child will also participate in on-going daily routines that allow him or her to put new concepts into action. The teachers chronicle each Preschoolers journey through daily observations and documentation while monitoring growth and development using an assessment tool that will be shared with parents.
School Age Program
Age Target: Provides Before/After Care, Vacation Care and Summer Camp
for children Kindergarten - 12 years old
Ratio: 10 children to 1 teacher
Group Size: 20 children (2 staff)
Kidds & Co. has dedicated a space in our center to be available for older children! Our school age room is spacious, bright and airy and set up for your school ager to enjoy. Our Before/After care program is open during the school year and best serves North Stonington School students. We offer Early Morning care from 7am—8 am as well as After School care from 3:30-6:00 Pm (All transportation to and from the North Stonington schools is provided by the bus company). When school is not in session for Holidays or Staff Development days, Kidds & Co. offers full day care for your child. Our Vacation Care is available to children in any school district. Additionally, during the summer months, we make it easy by providing a summer program that gives you the flexibility in schedule that you need and the excitement and adventure that your school-ager needs! No need to jump from camp to camp when Outback Kidds can provide your child with a variety of summer fun! All of our School Age programs are structured to provide clear expectations and routines without inhibiting fun and friendships. Pro –social behaviors are modeled, taught and expected and a focus on community is inherent to our center.
